How tuition works

What sets your family's tuition, and where to see the figures.

  • Tuition is set by the child's class and the mornings a week they come. Co-op membership is separate: every family works duty mornings and takes a family job, and that doesn't change what tuition is. We go through the figures with you on the tour.

    • The child's class: threes or fours

    • Two or three mornings a week

    • Membership: duty mornings and a family job

  • Registration

Registration opens your family's file and covers the forms and the first month's materials. It is due once, when you accept a place.

  • Holding a place

A place is held with registration and the first month, which goes toward tuition. When a class is full you join the waitlist, and we write to families in the order of the list as places open.

  • Billing

Tuition is billed monthly through our parent portal, and you can set up automatic payment there.

  • Help with tuition

Ask us whether child care assistance is open this month and how it works with our tuition.

  • Siblings

If you have more than one child at Acorn, we talk it through on the tour. Duty mornings and the family job are counted per family, not per child.

  • Withdrawing

We ask for a month's written notice. What happens with the month in progress, and with your duty mornings, is explained when you enroll.

  • Other costs

Besides tuition there are art and snack supplies and the occasional walk to a nearby park. How each one is paid is the co-op's decision, and we explain it in writing.
